I Know This Place!

Talk about funny...the second Trey and I drive up to Western Skies Golf Club, Trey let's out a "hey, I know this place". I engage him with a "oh yeah, how?" and wouldn't ya know Trey's response is, "this is where all the cheerleaders were, they kept saying, "Hi", and that puppy and I got to ride on...what's that called? "A golf cart", I reply. "Yup, I remember, that was so fun!"

I thought to myself what a sweet little mind, almost two years later and what Trey remembers of all that went on at his first fundraiser held here at Western Skies was the cheerleaders, the puppy that was in the live auction and the fun ride on the golf cart...the innocence of a child.

I'd take that any day over, "yeah, this is the place of the event that took you away from me for so many hours as you put together a day to raise money for me because I'm sick". Thank you God for the purity.

The Countdown Is On...

Only 3 more days until Trey's Treasure Chest for Hope fundraiser. I know how much work goes into planning and pulling off a fundraiser as I learned the hard way with our first event being such a huge event but in the same breath extremely successful. What I am in awe at is the fact that the committee members for this event are putting in so much of their time and effort for us, for Trey. Yes me, I'm the mom, it comes with the territory...but them, friends and co-workers, neighbors and family members??? I am moved to amazement. Last night they all spent a hard working 4 hours organizing and putting together the baskets for Saturday's event.

So many times at the Tuesday meetings' and again last night I found myself daydreaming about what all these remarkable people are doing for us. Many times I am moved to tears after the meeting's commence. How do we possibly thank all of you for all you are doing and have done? How many way's are there to say thank you?...not enough in my book. Although the attached picture's shows us taking a well deserved pizza break, the committee member's for Trey's event worked their booty's off last night. It was also so humbling to see all the donations put into baskets, see all the gift cards piled high and to hear about all the raffle tickets already sold. We are so honored to have such a large group of loved ones that truly love and support Trey. This fundraiser is going to be remarkable and by no mistake but rather the exceedingly hard work by Trey's Treasure Chest For Hope Committee...we love you guys, Mike and Cami

Making the News~Raising Awareness

After almost a year in the works(reorganizing at the Republic delayed the story), the newspaper article on Trey ran in this past Sunday's paper on the front page of Valley & State titled "Trey's New Beginning" and again today on the front page of the Chandler Republic titled, "Small guy, big HEART". All was very well written and so appreciated. All of this coverage couldn't have come at a better time…just in time to promote Trey’s fundraiser this Saturday.

We are so happy to be able to raise awareness and are extremely appreciative of all of Lisa’s (the reporter) and Nic’s (the photographer) time and effort (and persistence) as well as their interest in Trey’s life story.

Ya Got Me!

20,000 or so miles away and Bryan Got Me! As I was getting a cup down for Trey to make some chocolate milk in, I pulled down one stack of our many football cups...low a behold what is in the middle of our favorite teams but a COWBOYS cup! Trey was cracking up and of course I played up the fact that I was so "not happy" that anything Cowboys found it's way into our home. Trey told me he didn't like the Cowboys anymore and that we could throw the cup away (that's my boy, and such a quick learn). I think we'll send Trey's Uncle Bryan his cup back to him in a care package...just don't blame me if it gets lost in the mail.

Take It From One Who Knows

I swear, I'm not doing the teaching here, it's obvious already that Trey and his friends are here to teach me. Last week in a very short visit with Kaylene, she relayed a bit of advice to me from Taylor. Taylor said he was concerned about me, that I needed to quit worrying about Trey's differences and to just focus on what he does well because everyone is different in some way. He also said that I have to let Trey be Trey and that everything will be okay. Keep in mind that this is coming from Taylor, someone who knows, someone who understands, someone whom I pray will be Trey's mentor someday. So who better to learn from than Taylor? Thank you buddy, your words I will never forget and from this day forward take to heart. You are as important to my life as I'm sure you will be to Trey's, Huge hugs, Cami

Look For Him in Sochi, Russia at the 2014 Games

February 19, 2010
Just recently when Trey watches television he has been taking a special interest in the athletes, determining in his mind which is his favorite and turning to me to say, “when I get big, I’m gonna’ be that” or “when I get tall like daddy, that’s what I’m gonna be”. The funny thing is each athlete out does the next and who and what Trey is going to be changes each day. Last week Shaun White, the USA Olympic snowboarder beat out the rest by far with oooo’s and awwww’s. Trey was in awe of Shaun’s gold medal run and was “stuck” to the television in amazement. "Oh no, oh no Mom...THAT'S what I'm gonna be when I get big"! Such a cute moment of excitement and I captured it on tape (with the help of tevo).

The Next American Idol

We were blessed once again to be invited to a Hope Kids event...this time it was to Game Works this past weekend. To our surprise more than any video game, Trey had the best time in the Karokee booth. The funniest part about it was that before Mike figured out how to change the language of the songs, Trey was singing his heart out to a Japanise version of "Forever in Blue Jeans" - that's our Treybo, "Mr. Personality"!

Making the Right Decision

"Trey is bored in school, he's ready for Kindergarten"
"I am so happy Trey is in my class, he is one of a few kids that answer all my questions"
"Trey is ready for Kindergarten, and I wouldn't just tell you that"
"If Trey wasn't mature I'd tell you to hold him back but he's very mature for his age and most definitely ready for Kindergarten"
"Having big brothers have helped him immensely"

For Mike and I to determine the next step for Trey and to make sure it is the "right one", we have been asking for his teachers opinion's. The above answers are what we've got in the way of feedback on whether we should hold Trey back a year or let him advance into Kindergarten. We will still have a meeting to figure out Trey's needs no matter where he ends up next school year but as a mother, I am so happy to hear that Treys teachers BELIEVE in him and his abilities to recommend Trey attend kindergarten this upcoming school year. Mike and I have a check list of concerns that will help us through but so far, so good...looks like Trey may be on his way to becoming a "Haley White Tiger" just like his brothers.

I picked up the registration form's for Kindergarten today (yes, with tears in my eyes)as I listened to the secretary's instructions on filling them all out. A gentleman saw my tears and said, "before you know it your child will be taller than you, 23 year old and asking to move back into your home...if he only knew...the things we take for granted.

Fighting the Bad Guys

February 12, 2010

Today we all went to the airport to see Bryan off for a 6 month deployment. Trey doesn't understand when we tell him that Uncle Bryan is going away to "fight the bad guys". I think in part because we say the same of Mike's work and Mike comes home every night. The boys stayed up late to make Bryan the best "we'll miss u" sign ever. They were so proud to show him their artwork that next morning.

February 15, 2010
Nope,he doesn't understand. Tonight we went to Aunt Cathy's house for another one of her delicious meals. The boys got to see and talk to Uncle Byran on Sykpes. Treybo looked so concerned and asked Uncle Bryan why he wasn't in his house and was bummed when Uncle Bryan told him that was his house. I can't imagine Trey's dismay when his Uncle doesn't show up to his pirate birthday party in April. Poor little buddy! They say kids don't have a good sense of time...6 months just may seem like an eternity in this instance. Stay safe Uncle Bryan ~ we love you!

I think I can, I think I can!

February 10, 2010

So true to form of my little man that never gives up or in. Today Trey taught me another lesson in life. Trey wanted to go outside with his brothers. I told him that it would be a minute as he asked right in the middle of me making dinner. I guess my "in a minute" wasn't soon enough for Trey. Trey was quiet for a bit too long so I decided to walk away from the stove and check on him. You see, whenever "Mr. Busy" is quiet for any amount of time, 9 times out of 10, he is up to no good. The attached picture is what I found...Trey wasn't going to let his lack of "inches" stop him from going outside now, instead of waiting the minute for me. I ran back inside to get the camera as I watched this little, determined, being stack the pillows over and over again only to see them fall_-over and over again. Not once did Trey get frustrated...lesson learned by mommy/taught by Trey. I am always amazed at this child's determination and tenacity and always reminded by these acts of resolve that this is God's way of letting me know that Trey just may be "okay" with the cards he was dealt.

Rivals

February 4, 2010

So, no thanks to Trey's Uncle Bryan, along with the Cardinals, Trey is also a Dallas Cowboy fan (I WILL teach him this is NOT possible nor is it allowed in our home)! Trey gets such a kick out of teasing his mommy by drinking out of a Cowboys cups, eating off a cowboy's plate, wearing a Cowboys jacket...all furnished by his Uncle B. And if that wasn't enough...today he came home wearing a "cowboy hat". Trey stood in the doorway of the bus with the biggest grin on his face as he titled his head down to show me the "cowboy star" with "TREY" written across it. This week in preschool Trey's class is studying the letter "C" and subject..."cowboys". I just knew there would be something for him to "raz" me with. Okay Bryan, you got me this week but there is always next!!!
