Hearing Earring's make the "Grade"

Fast forward six weeks and through some "aches and pains" I am happy to say that Trey's hearing aids have resulted some fabulous results. Let's just say that my "bee-line" to acquiring the hearing aids came about after the first week of 1st grade when Trey's homework packet contained spelling words. My first thought was if he can't sound out the words or read the words how in the heck was he going to be able to spell them???!!! That was honestly the first time it hit me that I was no longer going to accept that Trey's hearing didn't go deeper than the hearing tubes and that his "in-complete" hearing tests were not only that. We needed to take this hearing issue to the next level in order for Trey to succed in the 1st grade and have a chance at functioning on grade level. My thought process was this...if MPS IV has no brain involvement than there should be no reason for Trey to be behind academically. I am so happy to have been pushed to this next phase and ecstatic to report that Trey has receive no less than a 90% on any one of his spelling test thus far!

In HONOR of Mr. Tim

Mike and I took Trey to officer Tim Barber's fundraiser before going to his ENT appointment Thursday, 8/25. Although Trey didn't understand why we were there, I told him a story about how on Mr. Tim's birthday a few years back, he chose to attend YOUR fundraiser instead of celebrating his special day with his girlfriend, Autumn. Autumn (now Tim's wife) told Mike that when she asked Tim where he would like to go to dinner to celebrate his birthday, he told her there was no place he'd rather be than at Trey's fundraiser...a gesture I will NEVER EVER forget. Fast forward four years and here sits Trey at a fundraiser to honor Mr. Tim. We are deeply saddened to say that The City of Tempe lost a true hero that following Saturday. One day when Trey can comprehend his blog, I know that he will feel privileged to have been in attendance of such a distinct occasion.

A New Room for Trey

Mike and I have decided to follow through with combining the boys bedrooms to give us a study/sewing room. As a result of the room change, Trey has decided he wanted to change his bedroom theme from 'sports' to "Yes Sir". I took a few "choice" pictures of our little soldier to make into posters for his new room...as you can see, Trey thoroughly enjoyed this photo session!
